First Charter, in a joint venture with the world leading solar panel manufacturing company Conergy Australia have submitted an Expression of Interest to Synerty Energy to Build, Own and Operate the massive power generation facility. Synergy Energy is Western Australia's largest energy retailer, with over 900,000 home and business customers and are the primary power supplier in the south west of Western Australia.
The proposed 30MW power generation facility comprises of 154,050 monocrystalline solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and would cover an area of 720,000 sqm or 80 hectares (177 acres), and would be the largest solar power generation facility of its kind in the southern hemisphere. The proposed facility would generate enough electricty for 30,000 houses and save 630,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Funding for the project has been arranged by First Charter Renewable Energy.
